EDIBLE SCHOOL GARDENS FOR HANDS ON LEARNING

Under the guidance of CACN’s chef partners, students from local lower and middle schools will grow their own edible gardens and harvest fresh organic produce from it. Our goals are to educate children on where their food comes from and get them involved in the process from the ground, to harvest and preparation to the dinner table. There is no better education than planting seeds, watching sprouts appear and then pulling a carrot you’ve grown out of the ground for a salad you will prepare for lunch!

CHEFS IN SCHOOLS

Chefs are hot! As communities and organizations get behind the First Lady’s Let’s Move! Campaign to solve the childhood obesity epidemic within a generation, Chefs can have a tremendous impact on the health and well-being of children. We want to bring our Chef partners into our schools to help educate kids about food and nutrition and invite children to get hands on with food.

CLASSROOM PROGRAMS

Create A Change Now along with our Chef Partners, will provide a classroom curriculum of nutrition education that helps students to adopt and maintain healthy eating habits and help them understand how their food choices affect their health, weight and overall general health.  What is diabetes? What is Glucose intolerance? Am I overweight? What does organic mean?
